Abounding in Love and Faithfulness

Psalm 86 15

Abounding – existing in or providing a great or plentiful quantity or supply (definition from the Merriam-Webster dictionary)

Good morning!

I love this word… especially when it is used to express the Father’s love and faithfulness.  It is great.  It is plentiful.  It never runs out and never gives up.  It is abundant.

But you, O Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.  Psalm 86:15

I just want to encourage you today that no matter where you have been or where you are, you belong with Jesus!  His love is big enough to handle anything that you have walked through.  His love is abundant and never-ending.  And it’s there just for you and just for me.

This is the love that I want to tap into more…what about you?

Just Take A Moment

Good morning!

As I watch the heavy snow fall this spring morning, I couldn’t help but smile with excitement as I thought about it watering the dry earth.  And oh how our souls need watering too.

I encourage you to take a few moments this morning, right where you are, to talk with the Father.  Press into Him.  He will respond as surely as the moisture continues to fall from the beautiful skies this morning.

The Power of Our Thoughts

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-think about such things.  Philippians 4:8 NIV

Good morning!

What is the first thing you think about when you wake up in the morning?  Today you might have immediately rolled over in your pillow and thought, “ugh, its Monday”, and all that comes with starting a new week.  It is so easy to let our thoughts immediately focus on ourselves, our lives, our jobs, our plans…

But what if our first thoughts were on Him?  What if we shifted our focus from ourselves: our day, our plans, our job, etc. to Jesus…

I want to encourage you this week to start your everyday with a simple prayer.  It might look something like this:

Father, thank you for today.  Thank you for walking ahead of me and behind.  Thank you for surrounding me with your love.  Father help guide me today in your wisdom and your strength.  Help me to keep my eyes on you and follow hard after you.  In Jesus Name, Amen

I believe that if we start each day by focusing on Jesus we will start to see change in our perspectives, change in our attitudes, change in our hearts and change in our thoughts…all for the better!

Run Your Race

 

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles.  And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.  Hebrews 12:1-2a

Good morning!

Social media has the ability to make us anxious.  As I was staying in the hospital last week with our son I scrolled through more social media than I care to admit.  I think sometimes we do it as a way to check out of the current circumstances surrounding us. As we scroll through our news-feed and our eyes scan all the pictures and/or statements our minds can immediately go to things like:

  • I should work out (exercise) more
  • I should spend more time with my kids
  • I should do more DIY projects for my home
  • I should try to get “that” job (whether corporate or work from home)

I should, I should, I should, and the next thing we know our minds have gone crazy and we have become totally discontent with our life.

Now, I’m not saying all social media is bad, because there are some great perks to it!  All I’m saying is run the race God has marked out for you.

We can get all worked up about what everyone else is doing and we tend to lose focus on what we are supposed to be doing.  There is only one Author of our story…and He is the most important person that we listen to.

So let’s stop looking over the fence and envying someone else’s race and get in tune with the Holy Spirit and run our race.

Real Genuine True Rest

Good morning!

Submission.  That can be such a scary word.  It is defined by the Merriam-Webster Dictionary as the condition of being submissive (submitting to others), humble, or compliant.  When I think of submission I think of letting something go.

  • Letting go of control
  • Letting go of anxiety
  • Letting go of sadness
  • Letting go of anxiousness
  • Letting go of anger
  • Letting go of always trying to fix things (relationships, family, children, etc)

We tend to want to hold some back…some of our anger, some of our forgiveness, some of our control.  But all that partial release brings is stress.  Or, we let it go only to pick it up again.

I am learning that we only find true rest in total submission… When we lay everything down at the feet of Jesus and submit all to Him we will find true rest.  Easier said than done…but anyone else in need of some real, genuine, true rest?  Let’s work at it together!
