Thankful Thursday

Thankful Thursday!!

Good morning!

Can you believe it is Thursday already?  This week has flown by full full of fun and fellowship time with our great family from Oklahoma.

A few things that come to mind for me today are:

  • Relationships built
  • The gifts that God has given us
  • Great visits with old friends
  • Hearts poured full with the Father

What are you thankful for today?

A Necessary Perspective Shift

Thankful Thursday!!

Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God.  Philippians 4:6 AMP

Some days it seems like there is more to worry about than be thankful for.  Fear can loom all around and suck us into anxiety.  But what if we shifted our perspective and our thoughts to all the things that we can ALREADY be thankful for?

This is a common verse we hear and see but what if we read it every single day?  And what if we ACTUALLY put it into practice every single day?

My life would look different.  What about yours?

Today I am thankful for:

  • Jesus
  • Sunshine
  • Coffee
  • Giggles coming all the way from the barn
  • Nuzzles from my favorite sorrel horse
  • Snuggles before bed

What are you thankful for?

Blessings,

Thankful Thursday!!

Thankful Thursday!!

Good morning!!

It is already that day again… doesn’t it feel like time is flying by?!  It sure does over here.  Our boys graduated from preschool this week and are out for the summer!  It seems like time is going too fast…

But it also reminds me to stop, to be grateful each day, and for the time we get to spend.  The gift of time is so great…and how spend our time truly matters.  So today I am grateful for:

  • time – time to spend with our family and friends making memories
  • my garden – (even though it looks extremely tough after all the crazy weather this week)
  • friends – those people God has put in our lives that we get to walk this life thing out with
  • God’s word – I am truly grateful that we have the bible to read, to study, to learn, and to stay grounded in

What are a few things you are grateful for today?

Blessings!

Thankful Thursday

Thankful Thursday!!

Good afternoon!

By the time Thursday afternoon rolls around I’m in desperate need of a mental reset.  And the best way to reset our minds is to focus on the things we are thankful for.  It turns our thoughts from the things weighing us down to Jesus and the amazing gifts He provides.

So, here are a few of the things that I am thankful for!

  • Warmer days, beautiful flowers, and a freshly planted garden
  • Beautiful sunrises
  • Two boys giggling on the trampoline as they spray water
  • Time to go visit friends tomorrow as a family
  • A husband dedicated to walking by my side through this life

What about you?  What are you thankful for today?

Blessings,

Finding Joy in the Little Things

IMG_7928

Good morning!

Finding joy in the little things…When I look at the smile on this boys face as he sips full strength juice it makes my heart smile.  As I sat on my bench watching him I began to think about all the things we already have, all that Jesus has already done, to bring a smile to our faces.

It seems that most of the time we tend to focus on the things we don’t have.  We plan, we strive, we set goals, and we work hard.  All good things!  It keeps us moving forward, but it also keeps our focus on things we don’t have yet.  And if we aren’t careful we become dissatisfied with where we are.

Let’s not forget to remember all the things He has already done for us.  It is so good to stop and look and think and smile.  Smile at the gifts He has given us.

When Life Runs Crazy

You hem me in-behind and before; you have laid your hand upon me.  Psalm 139:5 NIV

Good morning!

Sometimes our days can run out of control.  We catch ourselves coming and going and backtracking and unsure of how we are going to get to where we are headed.  Let’s be honest, sometimes we can even lose track of exactly where it was that we were headed in the first place.

I love how the scriptures talk over and over about Jesus going before us and being behind us but I especially love here in Psalms 139 where it says You hem me in...it’s personal.  It shows us that His love surrounds us all the time, and that He cares deeply enough for each one of us to hem us in when we need it.

Let’s pause and take a few deep breaths today and let Him hem us in.

Blessings,

Fullness of Joy

IMG_7806

Good morning!

You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.  Psalm 16:11

So often we chase after joy.  We chase “things” we believe will make us happy and bring us joy.  But as King David so wisely penned…in His presence, there is where we will find fullness of joy.  It isn’t something we have to chase after, it is Someone we lean into.

As we start our week out let’s stop seeking the things of this world to fill us with joy.  Let’s lean into Him and praise him because only He can make us whole.

Blessings!

Rest Assured

IMG_7882

Good morning!

All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.  Psalm 139:16

It is so easy to become anxious on our journey… to want so badly to run ahead of where we are.  We want to

  • Run further from our pain
  • Run into a better job or promotion
  • Run towards children that sleep all night
  • Run to a time different from now

But from our experience God is never early, but he hasn’t ever been late either.  He uses each day, each experience to grow us closer into who He made us to be.

Let’s let go of the things we can’t control and trust Him with our days.  We can walk confidently in our path when we trust the One we know is paving the way.

Blessings!

You Are Loved

We love because he first loved us.  1 John 4:19

IMG_7825

Happy Valentine’s Morning!

This day can be extremely special for some but it can also be extremely hard for others.  But instead of focusing on the love of our earthly relationships, the love we share with others, I want to focus on the One who first loved us…

We can only love others to the best of our understanding of what love is.  The scriptures tell us that;

Love is patient, love is kind.  It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.  1 Corinthians 13: 4-7 (NIV)

Very familiar verses…however if we truly understood them and put them into practice this world would be a different place.  But my favorite part of this familiar passage is the part that comes next –

Love never dies.  Inspired speech will be over some day; praying in tongues will end; understanding will reach its limit.  We know only a portion of the truth, and what we say about God is always incomplete.  But when the Complete arrives, our incompletes will be canceled.  1 Corinthians 8-10 (MSG)

When Love arrives…we will be complete.  Only Jesus can complete us.  His love is incomprehensible… a love so deep we couldn’t even begin to understand it.  His love for us never fails.  Jesus loves us like no one else can and that in itself is worthy of our praise today.

So! Let’s feel as loved today as we truly are, right where we are, exactly how we are.

Blessings,
