How Do We Press on In Times of Uncertainty
I sat in my office over the weekend, praying about my perspective. I desperately needed a shift. My tone had become grumbly and my words course. I was restless. It has been four weeks since we have “hunkered in” with quarantine and I desperately needed a few minutes of alone time.
Father, help me to put my agenda aside, to submit to change in this season, and press into you for the strength that I need.
I had written last week about clinging to the truth, to the very word of God in times of struggle and all of a sudden it was as if these truths were slipping from my grip.
I took a deep breath and leaned back in my chair and exhaled the long drawn out breath. And I felt the Father speak directly to my heart…You, my child, don’t just need to know the truth but walk in them intentionally.
Wow.
I grabbed my pen and decided to get started. There is never a better time to be obedient to the Holy Spirit then immediately when He speaks.
I started jotting down a few scriptures that I have memorized and clung to in the past. Then I began digging in the pages of my Bible for some more. Before long I noticed that I was mapping out what I needed each part of my body to be doing…
- Keep my thoughts on what is true (Phil 4:8)
- Keep my steps in line with the Spirit (Gal 5:25)
- Keep my eyes fixed on the unseen, it is eternal (2 Cor. 4:18)
- Keep my hands raised and praise the LORD (Psalm 134:2)
- Keep my heart pure (Matt 5:8)
As I continued writing I felt the restlessness leave and a renewed perspective wash over me. God is so good that way. When we determine to press on in Him during difficult seasons, He is right there to meet us and help us in the way we should go.
I pray that if you find yourself in a similar place, that you would grab hold of these scriptures, and add some more to them if you want! And determine to press on!
With love,
