“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Matthew 11:28-29 (NIV)
Anyone else tend to overdo it sometimes? I tend to be a “go big or go home” type of girl. Chase is always telling me this (while shaking his head at me too). And this time of the year is no exception. Sometimes I tend to get caught up in “doing” too much. I want to make this season as special for our boys as it was for me growing up.
It is really easy to get caught up in making sure the Christmas tree is just right and finding a place that the nativity scene won’t get broken and hanging the greenery with the sparkling lights just exactly symmetrical and the bulbs all matching. In the past, I have over-emphasized all the things that I thought would make this season special…
But Jesus is the true reason that Christmas is special.
I love that he invites us in, encourages us to slow down and rest in the comfort of his presence. It is from this place that we will truly be able to enjoy the process of this season and make it more about “being” and less about “doing”.
When we press into this season from a position of rest in Him, there is no reasons to stress over the decorations or run back to the store “just one more time!” for lights. When we press into Jesus, we will find rest for our souls.
My name is Tana and I am a Jesus loving, coffee drinking, twin boy wrangling woman with big dreams to help women just like you live this one life we get FULL!
Let’s be honest - life can be flat overwhelming at times, I’ve been there and lived that. But the life that Jesus died to give us is one that is so much more. It is my mission to help you learn to walk in the fullness of God and live your life well!
