You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! Trust in the LORD always, for the LORD God is the eternal Rock. Isaiah 26:3-4 (NIV)
With less than a week to go, the countdown is on! As we run from store to store trying to gather up the last minute gifts, trying to decide when to hit the grocery store, and still squeeze in a few more Christmas parties and activities for the kids, let us not lose focus on Jesus…
There are so many joyous occasions still to enjoy, but as we hustle around trying to complete all the things on our “checklist”, it is easy to lose sight of Jesus. I speak from experience when I tell you…focusing on the checklist puts the pressure on performance and all that leads to is being overwhelmed and losing our joy. Trying to be everything for everyone and trying to make the Christmas season perfect in our own strength is exhausting.
This season is perfect because it is when Jesus came to dwell on this earth. It isn’t perfect because we buy the best gifts or prepare the most beautiful Christmas dinner.
Let’s remember to keep our eyes on Jesus and our hearts open to love as we head into these last few days before Christmas. We keep in perfect peace when we trust in him, abide in him, stay close to him and look to him to lead the way. When we remain in him, his perfect peace remains in us.
