He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
Psalm 91:4 (NIV)
We are just over a week away from Christmas and it seems like now is when the last-minute stress sneaks up on us. Is anyone else feeling the pressure against time set in?
We are very close to having all our gifts gathered up and goodies ready for Christmas, however there are a few last-minute things to be done. I had thought to myself over the weekend that I would take one day and finish up while the boys were at school this week, however, I didn’t plan on having one boy home sick. As I sat at the kitchen table with coffee in hand this morning, I pulled out my planner, unsure of what the week would look like now.
I took a deep breath as I tried to come up with a plan while listening to my boy cough in the background. As I paused, thoughts running through my mind, the Holy Spirit whispered this verse in my heart. I had just read it a few days ago while doing some studying. The Father knew that I was going to need it. A confident reminder of who He is.
In times of stress, the days we feel the pressure begin to rise, let’s take a deep breath and pause for as long as it takes to feel ourselves return to His all-encompassing love. When we lean into Him, we find refuge.
As I prayed and released the stress to the Father, I felt His peace replace my anxiety. Instead of trying to control all things for the week, we can rest in the confidence that He knows all things and is already working them out. And that we already have all we need for Christmas anyhow…the perfect gift of Jesus.
