Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. Hebrews 10:23 (NIV)
There are so many good things that happen during Christmas, but for some Christmas can be a time of heartache. This season can bring up pain from the past that makes it hard to experience all the joy. There are also current situations and circumstances that make it hard for some to feel the love of Christmas.
I remember taking these photos as if it were yesterday…standing in the middle of that hospital NICU room scared to death of the unknown. The boys came unexpectedly nine weeks early weighing just under four pounds apiece. The journey ahead would be hard; a time filled with stress, sleepless nights, and constant worry. But He who promised is faithful…
Chase and I visit about those days a lot this time of the year, especially because we got to bring them home on Christmas Eve. We had completely missed the Christmas season, but we were so grateful to be home. There wasn’t time to decorate or put presents under the tree, but we had each other and these two precious gifts.
Sometimes there are no words that can be said to heal the hurt in our hearts but there is a man who came to heal the brokenhearted and bind up their wounds. (Psalm 147:3) Let us embrace the Father’s love and His goodness this season and receive the perfect gift of Jesus. When we open our hearts to Jesus, we will receive joy that can overflow during difficult times and a peace that passes all understanding.
Even if we can’t see it, and we don’t feel it right now, He who promised is faithful. Let us hold onto the hope that is found in the true gift of Jesus.
