Day 10: Selfless Love

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. John 3:16-17 (NIV)

This past weekend was a time of absolute joy and blessings for our family! My mother-in-law took the time to book us a weekend away in the mountains; it was full of sledding, ice skating and cutting down Christmas trees. But more importantly, it was a time of laughing, making memories, and taking the time to enjoy one another and the fun of this season.

It got us to thinking about how we spend our time. How selfless are we with our love? With our time?

The greatest gift, the true gift of Christmas, was the most selfless gift of all. God sent his one and only Son to us, to dwell among us, and most importantly to save us by death on a cross.

We believe the Christmas season tends to bring out the selflessness in all of us. And it is a great reminder that we can continue that all year, not just at Christmas. This past weekend was one of abounding blessings for our family and it all started because we chose to make the time. We want to encourage you to ask the Father where it is that He would have you spend some time…with family, friends, or maybe a lonely neighbor? Or perhaps helping at a local food bank or delivering Christmas goodie baskets.

It is God’s Spirit of love working in our hearts that gives us the desire to reach out, to extend love, and to spend time with those God has placed in our path.
