Chase and I were watching a television show the other night after we had put the boys to bed. Part of the story line was about a young married couple who was trying to have a baby but had not yet conceived. It was consuming the young man and affecting his attitude in all other areas of his life. The older, wise man of the show sat him down on the porch one night and talked it through with him. There was one line he said that got me thinking. He said, “we can’t focus on the things we don’t have or the things we can’t figure out, but rather on the blessings we have right in front of us“.
This has been the exact motivation behind my Thankful Thursday posts!
But to be honest, I have lacked on “feeling” the thankfulness lately. I have been all-consumed with the health concerns of our oldest boy. Trying to figure out things that I don’t understand, running more allergy tests, and trying to figure out how to modify our diet yet again has filled my brain day and night.
But that’s not who I want to be. I don’t want to live in the fear of the unknown… I want to live in the moment and truly, wholeheartedly be thankful every single day for all the blessings right in front of me.
I want to live life full. Full of Jesus.
When we live full of Him, we can live in constant joy and have continual peace in the midst of whatever we are walking through.
Here are a few of the things I am thankful for this week!! What about you? What blessings are right in front of you to be thankful for this week?
I am thankful for flag football!
I am thankful for family and fun nights.
I am thankful for a new shed for the boys’s calf project this year. I am thankful for projects that teach them responsibility and hard work.
Pause and Reflect: I encourage you to take inventory of your heart today. What blessings are right in front of you that you can thank God for today?
Pay it Forward: How can you encourage someone today by being a blessing to them or blessing them in some way?
Have a great day! We would love to hear from you!
