Day 2: A Child’s Joy at Christmas

Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.  John 1:12

Greetings!

The joy of a child at Christmas is infectious.  Our boys woke up Friday morning after Thanksgiving asking if we could put the tree up, please they said jumping up and down.  And ever since we have done Christmas activities everyday.  Sometimes their excitement and joy is exhausting to my husband…lol  and it takes extreme patience!

But, as parents our hearts are filled with so much joy watching them in their excitement.  Last night we went to our local Christmas light parade and festival in town and when we returned home the lights from our decorations inside sparkled in the darkness.  As we all rushed inside to escape the cold of the wind one boy said, “They are so pretty! Can we leave them up all year mama?  I just love this time of year…”

It is so easy for a child to believe in the joy of Christmas; the decorations, the gifts, the activities and the lights…we all love them!  They are tangible…things we can see with our eyes.  But in order for us to receive the perfect Gift, we must open up our hearts.  Open them up to believe in the true gift of Christmas.

What would it be like if we had that child-like excitement about the good and perfect Gift?  Would we love a little deeper?  Laugh a little louder?  Reflect His love a little brighter?

Blessings,
